#BoycottChina and #आत्मनिर्भरभारत are in contradiction with each other

While India is struggling with China on the border an indoor war has ignited in the country for #BoycottChina or #BoycottChineseProduct. Indians are making a clarion call by spreading waves of rejection for Chinese products, running online campaigns against China, burning Chinese products and what not but even as voices averse to trade ties with China grow louder, doing away with #MadeinChina products may be easier said than done. Starting from electrical machinery, nuclear reactor, auto components to fertilisers and medical equipment, India is running on a wide road of imports from China hence the clamour for #BoycottChina amid border standoff appears unrealistic. Especially when Indian Prime Minister Mr. #NarendraModi has made assuring and appealing announcement of #आत्मनिर्भरभारत such revolutionary demands and exhibits are way behind the real picture.

When the voice against China is accelerating The Swadeshi Jagaran Manch (#SJM) and Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (#RSS) too have not stood back provided: they have called for a China Boycott each time an issue has arisen between the two neighbours, placing bilateral ties in danger. Whereas rational voices in India have repeatedly pointed out that it is unrealistic and self-destructive for Asia's third-largest economy to launch friction with the largest economy in the region also blindly associating border issues with the economy is illogical. Before moving further I shall mention that India is importing from #China way beyond the latter is and in such scenario, the #BoycottChina is harmful solely for India rather China thus demanding any rejection is an invitation to crises and problems.

Living in the world without bilateral or collateral support is impossible not only for India but any country still being self-sufficient is a must for India for which the best and perhaps the only solution is; turning the current graph of Exim- upside down i.e. attainment of higher the exports and lower the imports. At present, the #आत्मनिर्भरभारत is merely a phenomenon to bring it live a lot has to be done and any demand for refusal is unaware of its repercussions. India's export fell for the 8th consecutive month by 36.5% year-on-year which has to be corrected as soon as possible by increasing the exports and consumption of #MadeinIndia goods. Keeping in mind that Indian economy has seen the highest FDI inflow from China during 2014-19, we can't let go the growth opportunities or afford any drain of foreign currency rather the real thing to do is how we create a situation where the export goes exponentially beyond the import.

Instead of escalating voices against #MadeinChina on economic grounds or in favour of #आत्मनिर्भरभारत we need to find the answer for; "How to make them possible?" The answer is- "Decrease the import and Increase the export "; that the chain of import-export does not break but becomes stronger at the Indian end. This exercise has to be done in both sectors- production and services. Imagine; if there is a company in India that imports a software from China and works further for whatever purpose it may have, then we are paying a hefty amount to China draining our currency plus providing other non-financial benefits such as lesser the duties on more the business still if we #BanChina from Indian market then the loss is ours. We can understand it with this chain below-

The importing company will suffer the loss ⇒ The employment this company was providing in India will be hampered ⇒ The sale it was making will vanish from market lowering its liquidity ⇒ Causing a slowdown in the economy.

Since it is not the matter of one organization but millions of such are present therefore it will cause a huge loss as a whole. While, if we work for reversing the cycle, the ball falls into our court i.e. if -

India develops the software ⇒ Export not only in China but throughout the world ⇒ This will attract excise duty ⇒ Improving the money flow (#liquidity) in Indian market ⇒ Selling across the world will bring foreign currency ⇒ Improving our position in global economy ⇒ To execute well the company will hire workers, improving our employment strata ⇒ Higher job opportunities will lead to a rise in education leading to better literacy rate and finally ⇒ building a stronger nation i.e. #आत्मनिर्भरभारत.

And this is just one example, as I mentioned above millions of such organizations are present which collectively cast a colossal impact on the Indian market affecting its economy.

Speaking about #BoycottChina Indians have to also look on the fact that barriers work for both the sides. If we close all the doors for China we too can't enter there and the actual meaning of #आत्मनिर्भरभारत fails here because economic barriers on China will vanish the world's largest population from Indian consumer base which is ultimately harmful to Indian economy itself, especially at times when we need to surplus the outgoing. Whatever motive China is having in border provocation, dragging economic boycott will attract huge loss for India since we are unprepared as yet. The global economy is already facing great uncertainty amid the coronavirus pandemic if India and China allow escalating the border tensions the economic development on both the sides will inevitably suffer.

As an Indian, it is natural to feel agitated for military loss and border threat our country is facing but it is the time when we have to work on our stronger sides i.e as a consumer we can shift from choosing a Chinese product to Indian, giving chance to our home brands to grow, say a big no to creating any chaos rather utilizing our capacity hidden in the world's second-largest manpower to make our nation a better one and work for creating as well as availing the opportunities that are lying ideal. We should not indulge in any verbal-visual protest but work hard and smart in reversing the current import-export chain because this is how we can tribute to our soldiers and show gratitude towards the nation in true meaning as well as build the #आत्मनिर्भरभारत.
