What a day it is! it's raining here, chilled weather and an awesome movie! 22 years after its release "Today" I watched the movie- Erin Brockovich. For a cinephile like me, it was a treat. Awesome, superb, well done, recommended and whatnot.... but anything I say can't compete with the brilliance this movie has been. Those who have not watched it yet- It's a movie based on how Eric Brockovich won the case against PG&E without having any law degree. It sounds simple but it's all a roller coaster ride.

How much I liked the movie and how Julia Roberts playing in and as Erin Brockovich became the first woman to win all Academy Award, BAFTA, Critics' Choice Movie Award, Golden Globe Award, National Board of Review, and Screen Actors Guild Award for a single performance; are separate amazing things but how the real-life character has done a great job is more enthralling here.

The Movie discusses how a young woman, struck with life tragedies and full of will to work rightfully, circumstantially lands on a lawsuit. It was talking about how, many industries misuse resources, pollute the environment, become the root of many fatal diseases, mislead people, take advantage of them and behave innocent and also how they must pay the cost. I will here, talk about the "Pollution" part.

In the movie, it is shown how PG&E was using a 6th-degree chromium variant that was causing nothing less than cancer to anyone. One dialogue that the protagonist spats on the unjust compensation offered by the charged have shook me- "

these people don't dream
about being rich.
They dream about being able
to watch their kids
swim in a pool...
without worrying they'll
have to have a hysterectomy
at the age of 20...
like Rosa Diaz,
a client of ours.
Or have their spine
deteriorate like Stan Bloom,
another client of ours.
So before you come back here
with another lame-ass offer,
I want you to think
real hard about what your
spine is worth, Mr. Walker.
Or what you might expect someone
to pay you for your uterus,
Ms. Sanchez.
Then you take out
your calculator,
and you multiply
that number by a hundred.

This is how we also need to calculate the cost when we just throw a candy wrapper anywhere without giving a damn! or just buy packaged water all the time because it's convenient and fancy and costs just a few bucks. We need to bother how and why cancer has become a common disease? Why does Punjab in India is having a train running especially for cancer patients? It's just because of the pesticides used in that state for agriculture.

More hospitals, health and life insurance policies, better medical facilities, government-funded treatment and what not; While you are thankful for these things and putting big cheques in policies please also care about why you even need these things at the first place? When I see another hospital being built, it just petrifies me. But somehow, we are responsible for this. We need growth, we need money, we are blind to alarming environmental situations, we prefer plastic over a little toil. We are the culprits but not to forget are also the victims!

Very well said. This has become a big problem today and needs to be addressed ASAP. We need to take strict measures and start practicing SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT so that our upcoming race don't get to face an Environmental Crisis...

Phenomenal..Very well written.. It is something that we don't give much importance to but environment change is happening and it is for real. It is high time that we need to understand the damage that we are causing to our surroundings. I too saw an interview of Mr Sonam Wangchuk (The same Tibetan guy whose role was played by Aamir Khan in 3 idiots), where he stated that though Leh and Ladakh has seen a significant tourism boon since the release of that film, it has also severely affected the ecosystem of the place because though the tourists return back, but the waste that they produce doesn't. Today, it is good to see that we are conducting summits on environment…

I had seen this movie while on a long flight from Hong Kong to Vancouver BC... Very engaging script and the main protagonist adroitly depicted by Julia Roberts! I am also enchanted by Ms. Roberts since she became a practicing Hindu 😊

On a more wiser note, your crusade for environmental protection well noted and acknowledged....
